Charissa “Kristy” Farris, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who practices general orthopedic surgery and has a special interest in sports medicine and joint replacement surgery. Referred to as Dr. Kristy by most of her patients. Her philosophy is simple – “You can get back into the game”. Don’t give up on what you love to do, let us help you do something to solve the problem. Your goal may be to continue or excel at a sporting activity or to just playing with your kids. Our job is to help you get to your goal and get you back into the game of life.

By using state of the art pain control and the newest in minimally invasive surgical techniques patients at Orthokristy get the most function with the least pain. Our practice utilizes extensive arthroscopic techniques for joint repair and reconstruction. When open procedures are needed we always focus first on the possibility of limited or partial replacements before recommending total replacement.

As a general orthopedic practice we can help you through out your life with whatever injuries and musculoskeletal ailments you encounter. Dr. Farris treats everything from simple sprains and strains to ligament tears and complex shoulder/knee reconstruction or replacements. Our hope is to be the single place that you can come for treatment of a sprain, a broken bone, carpal tunnel, an ACL tear, meniscal injuries, or treatment of the inevitable wear and tear that happens to joints and muscles as a result of an active lifestyle. Dr. Farris specializes in complex sports injuries and reconstruction (ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, rotator cuff repairs and shoulder stabilization surgery) and well as limited or partial replacement of shoulder and knee joints. In every aspect of treatment we focus on how to get the most function back with the least pain/scarring and least disruption to your busy life.

Dr. Farris lived in Southern California early in life then moved to the southeast where she earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee. She completed her orthopedic surgery training at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama; including training with the prestigious sports and reconstructive surgeon Dr. James Andrews, physician and surgeon to the world’s premier athletes. During training Dr. Farris was involved in clinical research projects including ACL reconstruction and patient outcomes following surgical procedures.

During time away from work, Dr. Farris enjoys travel, golf, cycling and spoiling her two beagles, Sophia and Abby.
